Gigawatt Industries, in partnership with PoGoCharge, has successfully deployed 10 state-of-the-art 200kW EV charging stations at The Center in Livingstone, a bustling hub withover 150 eateries and shops. This turnkey EV charging solution enhances infrastructure, supports the transition to electric vehicle transportation, and ensures fast, reliable, and efficient EV charging for both visitors and staff.

The extensive project covered all civil and electrical works, ensuring seamless integration with minimal disruption. By delivering this future-proof EV charging infrastructure, Gigawatt Industries is playing a key role in expanding sustainable mobility solutions and strengthening the EV charging network in the UK.

Scope of Work

Charger Installation

10 units of Pogo Charge’s advanced iCharging Touch+200kW DC Chargers, providing ultra-fast, reliable charging for up to 20 electric vehicles.

Civil Engineering Services 
We carried out excavation, trenching, and construction of NAL bases to support the chargers and their associated infrastructure.
Electrical Systems Setup
Our team installed a Schneider Electric feeder pill a rand routed high-capacity power cables using industry-standard ducting, ensuring a stable and efficient power supply for the chargers.
Drainage and Parking Modifications
We formed drainage channels and repositioned car park barriers, optimising the site for efficient charger operation and vehicle movement.
EV Bay Marking and Signage
We marked exclusive EV bays and installed clear signage to reserve spaces specifically for electric vehicle users. Additionally, we implemented LED floodlights to enhance visibility and safety.

Energy Efficiency:
With a power factor of >0.99 and 95% efficiency, these chargers provide an energy-efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective charging solution for electric vehicles.


Power Output:
Our chargers provide up to 200KW across 8 charging points, supporting simultaneous fast charging with CCS and CHAdeMO connectors for maximum efficiency. 

Payment Options:
The charger supports multiple payment methods including mobile app, RFID cards, bank cards, Google/Apple pay, and roaming partners, providing flexible payment solutions for users.
 
Durability and Protection:

Featuring IP54 and IK10 ratings, the chargers are designed to be highly resistant to dust, water ingress and impact, ensuring long-term reliability in all environments. 

User Interface:
Equipped with a 32-inch touchscreen, the charger offers an intuitive user experience, including multimedia capabilities and real-time charging updates for convenience.

Electrical Infrastructure



 

Incoming DNO Metering: Accurate energy monitoring with 1600/5A CTs wired to a COP5 metering box.

 

Earth Leakage Protection: A 4P MTZ2 12 H1 air circuit breaker with Micrologic 7.0X for enhanced safety.
 

Surge Protection: Type 1 & 2 surge protection to safeguard equipment from power surges.

Climate Control: Anti-condensation heaters and IP54 filters to maintain optimal internal conditions.

Auxiliary Power: Integrated circuits for external lighting and auxiliary site systems.

The Schneider Electric 3400A feeder pillar was installed to serve as the backbone of the sites power distribution, supporting the high-capacity EV charging infrastructure.

Civil Engineering Works

Trenching and Excavation
Preparing the site by digging precise trenches to accommodate power and data cabling required for EV charging infrastructure.

Ducting Installation
Laying durable ducts within the trenches to protect and manage electrical and communication cables efficiently.

Concrete Foundations
Constructing robust concrete bases to securely support EV chargers and associated equipment.

Reinstatement
Restoring disturbed surfaces, such as tarmac, paving, or landscaping, to their original condition once installations are complete.

Bay Painting
Marking and painting designated EV charging bays to ensure clear visibility, compliance, and user convenience.

Implimentation

Groundworks

Pre-excavation testing, trenching, and foundation preparation were carried out, ensuring a secure base for all installations.

Infrastructure 

Placement of feeder pillars, power units, and floodlights, alongside precise ducting and cable routing.

Electrical Installation

Installation and connection of chargers and testing to ensure compliance with operational standards.

Final Touches

Redesign of car park bays, application of clear markings, and installation of protective bollards and signage.
