DC Charging Infrastructure
Rapid, reliable, high-power charging for commercial, workplace and public spaces.

Who benefits from DC Charging?

Commercial and Retail
Attract customers, increase dwell time and generate new revenue streams.

Destination and Hospitality
Build a premium experience and encourage longer stays

Workplace
Support EV adoption, reduce costs and demonstrate commitment to sustainability
Ultra-fast Charging
DC chargers bypass the vehicle’s onboard AC converter and feed power directly into the battery. This enables charging up to 80% in as little as 15–30 minutes
Why Choose DC Charging?
Increased Site Footfall
Attracts EV drivers to destinations, retail parks, and service areas. Encourages customers to spend more time and money while their vehicles charge.
Improved User Experience
Shorter charging times make it ideal for on-the-go charging at service stations, retail parks, and high-traffic areas.
Future Proof Sites
DC charging supports high-power outputs (from 50 kW up to 350 kW and beyond). Compatible with evolving charging standards like CCS and CHAdeMO, ensuring long-term viability.
How DC Charging Works
DC (Direct Current) charging delivers power directly to a vehicle’s battery, bypassing the car’s onboard AC converter. This allows for much faster charging speeds compared to standard AC charging.
Power Source
Electricity is supplied from the grid or a local substation. At DC charging sites, this is supported by specialist infrastructure such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems to ensure stability and safety.
Conversion to DC Power
Unlike AC charging, where the car converts alternating current to direct current, a DC charger houses its own converter. This means the vehicle’s battery can receive DC power straight away without bottlenecks.
Direct Battery Connection
The charger communicates with the vehicle via a secure protocol (such as CCS or CHAdeMO) to regulate voltage and current. The energy flows directly into the battery, safely and efficiently.
Rapid Charging
Because the conversion happens outside the car, much higher power levels are possible — from 50kW rapid chargers up to 350kW ultra-rapid systems. This translates into:
-
80% charge in as little as 20–30 minutes (depending on vehicle & charger).
-
Ideal for fleet operators, public charging hubs, and motorway service areas.
